Website requests and server logs

The website runs on a server managed by us at Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The server is located in Nuremberg. When you open a page, the web server processes technically necessary data: your IP address, date and time, the requested address, the referring page, browser and operating system (user agent), status code and amount of data transferred. Without this data the page cannot be delivered and operation cannot be secured.

Requests to openfibu.org pass through Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, as an upstream network and security service. Cloudflare processes connection data such as your IP address and the transmitted content, including outside the EU. For covered transfers Cloudflare provides EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working and secure website under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We retain technical logs only as long as needed for operation, troubleshooting or investigating a security incident.

Reach measurement with Umami

To see which pages and blog posts are read and which links bring visitors, we use Umami. Umami is open-source software that we run ourselves at stats.vibelabs.to on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The server is located in Nuremberg.

When you open a page, your browser loads the Umami script from stats.vibelabs.to and sends: the requested address and page title, the referring page, browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language. Umami derives country and region from your IP address. Umami does not store the IP address itself.

Umami sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Umami counts repeat visits using an identifier calculated from IP address, browser data and a regularly changing value. This creates no permanent identifier and no cross-site profile. We only analyse the data in aggregate, do not use it for advertising and do not pass it on.

Requests to stats.vibelabs.to also pass through Cloudflare as described above.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring reach to improve the website and its content (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time by emailing [email protected] or by blocking scripts from stats.vibelabs.to in your browser or with a content blocker. We keep the statistics as long as we need them for this analysis.

Contact by email

If you write to us, we process your address and the content of your message to reply. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for questions about a contract. We delete the message once it is resolved and no statutory retention duty applies.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to

  • access your stored data (Article 15),
  • rectification (Article 16) and erasure (Article 17),
  • restriction of processing (Article 18),
  • data portability (Article 20),
  • object to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Article 21).

Write to [email protected]. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority (Article 77 GDPR). The authority for our company seat is the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner, Maternistraße 17, 01067 Dresden, Germany.
